About your Library Media Specialist
My name is Yukari Matsuyama and I have been Robinson's Library Media Specialist since December 2008. Prior to working in the library I wore several other hats at Robinson: first grade assistant (in Ms. Carlin's class), Computer Lab Specialist, and substitute teacher. But, by far, the library is my favorite place to be!

Although I was born in Japan, I grew up in Manhattan Beach and attended Meadows Elementary, Manhattan Beach Intermediate, and Mira Costa High School. I attended college on the East Coast, first at Barnard College in New York City and then at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. I graduated with a BS in Industrial and Labor Relations. After graduation I moved to Tokyo, Japan where I worked in Human Resources for a year. As much as I loved living in Tokyo, corporate life was not for me and I returned to Los Angeles where I've been ever since.
I am married to a fellow Mira Costa Mustang and we have two children: Ian is in seventh grade at Crossroads School and Maya is in second grade in the Wiseburn School District. My husband is a post-doctoral researcher in education at UCLA. Everyone in our family goes to school everyday and we all do a lot of reading! My hobbies include reading (of course), crafting (scrapbooking & sewing), cooking & eating, and traveling. |
